International Ambassador – Chris Sanigar

Boxing manager Chris Sanigar’s career began in 1972. While a porter at the Bristol fruit market in St Phillip’s Marsh in 1972 he was also an amateur boxer with the Empire ABC, becoming an England international. In 1978, Chris turned professional for a six-year career travelling the world.

On retirement he became a professional manager, trainer and, later, a promotor and has managed three world champions, five European champions, eight Commonwealth champions and eight British champions. This has taken him around the world, and enabled him to meet such luminaries as President Kaunda at the State house, Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg and Prince Harry and Meghan at the Bristol Boxing Gym.

His promotion of Bristol and its diverse and exciting qualities during his travels earned him the accolade of International Ambassador for Bristol City Council in November 2018.
